I replaced the alternator on the 7040 with a proper Delco with the tach post. Does anyone know what kind of plug I need to put on the tach wire to connect to the tach post? My connector was missing and I stripped the wiring back and held it on the post and the tach worked. I got a couple of plugs from the parts store but they were too big.

I had to use a 2 wire plug and put a spade on my tach wire, just did my 7050 this week. Local parts store acted like I was speaking Spanish when I asked for a 3 wire plug.

I bought a Wilson alternator it has the standard two wire plug and then has a small post on it for the tach looks like I need a 90 degree terminal that pushes on like a GM oil pressure switch which I tried but was too big.

I thought they used a round eye with a nut and a rubber boot it's slipped over like the big red wire should have

What Diesel has in his picture is what I call a swinging brush style delco. That style was used in later production tractors. The type that Red Bank is talking about has a separate pin on the back for the tach. It's about the size of pencil lead and the wire just pushes onto it. Early tractors used this style of wire end and it was also used on some of the air conditioning compressors at the super heat switch. I,ve got some if you can't find it locally.
