My 58 D14 has had an irritating issue for a long time. I get good throttle response all through the quadrant. My problem is if I just nudge the throttle lever open just a hair from the top, the engine will go from low idle (650 rpm) and jump up to around 1300 +/-. According to my dad, the governor weights were replaced back in the 90s when the engine was rebuilt. I do notice some wear on rod that goes from the governor to the carb. The wear is on the end that connects to the governor arm. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

90 to now is 20+ years. Easy to check weights. If weights are OK, link from governor arm to carburetor needs adjusted. MACK
