Ok everyone here I go starting WW3. Lately I have split my 190xt at the rear end to replace some shot roller bearings and put a new trans input shaft exc. So this has required me to take the rear hubs/wheels off, requiring 3 hub pulling studs the "local" (2 hour away) agco dealer wants $80 each plus $15 freight fee EACH!!!
Ok now the green parts at the green store. last spring antifreeze started leaking out the top of the block on our deere 4760 at the very back of the head, turns out the top of a head bolt snapped off and the rest of the stud vibrated loose and that's where the leak was ( uncle ran it that way 3 weeks just adding a gallon of coolant every couple hours ) I had enough one day and drilled a hole and pounded a old screw driver in the top of the stud and got it out with a vise grip went to deere ( 6 mile from the farm ) and they had the stud ( about 5 inch long head bolt kinda fancy ) it was like $7.50. last summer we were using my 190xt on a hay rake and it formed a leak right between the turbo and exhaust manifold so I called napa they could get the gasket for $5ea agco had them for $8 plus shipping so I went to deere and after 15 mins of me telling the parts man im %100 sure its the same bolt pattern as any deere 4 inch turbo he came back with 7 gaskets and said $3.75 ea so I bough all of them. Im not trying to favor the deere dealer or dislike the agco dealer personaly I hate some deeres with a passion, hence why between me and my uncle we farm with 10 tactors daily and only one is a deere. I love my little orange tractors, I liked my 190xt so much 1 year later I went and bought a second I get so confused tyring to deal with agco on parts and it dosent help theres 15 deere and 5 red dealers to the 1 agco dealer around. I don't know just my rant. We have been screwed by them all deere, case,ih,and the wrost is new Holland. Just venting my excperinces. Its not allis but was a darn good baler we had a massey 12 baler we had to junk because agco stopped carrying ware parts for it kinda sad. |

Those jack bolts are more than just bolts, I think they have a unique thread...... I could be wrong on that. They are also machined special too. But yes they are high priced today. 20 years or so they were way cheaper..... Like I said I paid somewhere around $4 plus per bolt.

Yea but John Deere will get you on other things needed an axle for a 336 baler ended up buying a heavier one aftermarket included hub bearings seal and cap for less then 1/2 of what JD wanted for the axle.

Deere certainly is the anti christ some on here make them out to be. Atleast they don’t have the identity crisis Agco does.

Those bolts for removing the wheel hubs are not "run of the mill" bolts. Very specialized and have a lot of machining in them. And the thing that is a big factor in determining price is the quantity of the part that is sold. John Deere probably sells 100,000 of those head bolts a year. Agco probably sells a dozen of them hub bolts a year, on a good year. I've usually been pleasantly surprised with agco parts prices. However there are some exceptions. Likewise, you'll definitely find some exceptions to John Deere's cheaper prices too. Darrel

I was surprised by my agco dealer a couple weeks ago, Was checking on seed plate gears for a snap coupler 2-row planter- Tesch Bro's ( local agco dealer) still had them new!!! and reasonably priced, could hardly believe agco still made new gears for a 60 year old implement! Some things they are pricey on like Nelson mufflers or 170/175 hydraulic pump drivesahft parts.

I second you with that hydraulic pump thing, they wanted more for a new pump for my series3 190xt then I paid for the tractor and the inframe overhaul with injectors!!!

Not a big deere hater, but back when I was in college and worked for a local farmer as well as farmed some ourselves. The starter went out on his 4340 and by chance I had to replace the starter on our 1066, his bill was 5 times what mine was for a starter. Just saying seemed a bit high to me.

the 4340 starter probably needed to be 5 times the starter to turn over a cold deere. I haven't found a hard starting 10 yet, the best starting diesel tractor I have been around has been our tired 1026 7,000+ hours and have never had the cylinder head off.

my neighbors 10 would start right up down to 10 deg. I though A-C's were usually cold blooded too, until I started this one: https://www.facebook.com/awtractorrepair/videos/286053379023702/
