I was under the impression that you can only use binder twine as regular baling twine is to heavy.

I use binder twine, But I see that Menards caries "sisal" twine which looks almost identical.

I agree that, I understand binder twine should be used, but I haven't been able to find any. Normal baler twine won't even fit in the box is too heavy, tried a plastic baler twine it is too small and won't stay in the tension wheel. Don

My Father bought one of the first Roto Balers when they came out in 1947 and ran it until he died in 1996. I can tell you for sure BINDER TWINE. Nothing else fits, feeds properly or cuts off better. He sent me to the Co-op once for binder twine and I came back with baler twine. We ALL got in trouble! LOL Get your winrows wide--- not tall. Put two or 3 just side by side. Feeds better and more evenly. Raking was my job with the old 45. (which I still have). Truly a remarkable machine- way ahead of its time!

I still get it at my local farm and home. They still carry belts and twine. I will support them as long as they do. I enjoy the looks I get almost as much as running it!
