Has anybody here tried mounting a fluid coupling in the PTO drive line on a WD? Been thinking of ways to reduce shock strain on my brush hogging setup. If so, mounting pics would be helpful.  (my cutter has a slip clutch..........looking for belt & suspenders approach)
Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

think your RPM would be to low to get it to transmit any power. old 50's Chrysler products used a fluid coupling (torque converter) as part of std trany drive system. Was self contained with no external pump.

A dry fluid coupling might work.

Try a google search on torque convertor.  I recall seeing small convertors on small engines and electric motors, like rides at the fair when I went to them.  Last state fair was 30+ years ago.

Lou: I ordered one of those dry couplings. When it arrives, maybe you can come and help me install it.

Coke: I remember those old Dodges/Chryslers. Had not thought of the speed issue though. 

It's probably a good thing to just "forget".  That'll be easy for me.  ha ha

Where i worked before we used magnetic couplings as a coupling. It had a internal steel drum and a external aluminum drum, inside was iron filings. A coil around the drums was a magnetic coil which when energized could lock the drums , when voltage was varied the slippage . Used from 0 to 90 V DC to create lockup or slip. These units were in size from 10 to 200 ft.lb. torquer rating
