Finished up this 220 FWA model and thought you guys might line to have a look at it.
I scratchbuilt the frontend and 3pt, turned the front rims out of brass, and the weights out of aluminum. Then upgraded the operator station with control and shift levers and peddles. Also made the exhaust with raincap, and the breather. I am building an 8btm 3000 series monoframe plow to go with this tractor.
Here's a couple pictures and you can see more by going to my website at "acmodelsofarizona.weebly.com" Armand

Your timing is very ironic. Just friday as I was helping my wife clean, I picked up my One Ninety model and thought to myself. Boy does it look plain compared to the talented fellow on the AC forum. Then friday night, a fellow AC lover at work was talking about seeing a FWA 220(he didn't know/hadn't seen one before)
And today you show up with a beautiful piece of work like that. If I recall correctly from previous post you use a lot of brass and solder it together to make most of your models? You mentioned turning rims and such, do you use sherline mill/lathe for model work or something else? Sorry for the 50 questions. Very nice. |

I am amazed and impressed as always.
I gotta show one of my plows that I made 15-20 years ago. My favorite was a 7 bottom matched it to a D21 dualled with a cab. It is in a show case in Chagrin Falls today. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

beautiful. Can I ask.. what do you do for tires? Do you use originals, or are there suppliers for that sort of thing? I suppose a person could machine a mold, but that seems like a lot of work. Keep it up, I love all of your work

Thanks for the comments guys!!
FB43, I build all of my models out of brass and solder or bolt everything. I use a MicroMark 7 X 14 lathe that I purchased a couple years ago after selling my bigger lathe when we moved down here. Larry Karg has a nice 220 FWA at the Hutchinson, MN show and I had a lot of pictures of it on file. Then someone posted a picture of a 220FWA and 7BTM 3000 series plow here on the forum that nudged me to build one.
Only I decided to go with an 8BTM on-land unit.
BigFish, neat plow!! Are you still building?? Armand

I built around 100 snap coupler 2-3-4-5-on land 7 and roll over's, some F145,2350's. I got burned out about 10-12 years ago. I still have 2 to finish on my bench that been sitting that long.
I have the #9 loader drew(2D) in my computer on a WD45 profile and have made some parts for it. that was 4 years ago!! thanks |

I remember playing in the sand box with my 7045 and 5 bottom IH plow all day long. What I wouldn't give to play with a 220 FWA and a 7 bottom again. They never would get me to come out of the sand box.

Thanks again for the comments!!
JMM, I buy most of my tires for Dakotah Toys in Madison, SD which is a large toy parts dealer. Some of the rims (like the front rims on this 220 I have to turn on my lathe).
I also buy some parts from SOMO Toys in Missouri. Tires and rims are about all I buy, and make the rest. Amand
