Just wanted to say hi and ask a question or two. I am new to the forum and this is my first post. Just bought a 1944 B! Great little tractor! This is the first Allis I have owned. What does the information on the oval brass plate mean?
Thanks,
David

brass tags were not factory equipment. might havae belonged to county or rial road company. They installed tags to give eacha "tractor number" for their company. My IB has a tag and it says "sheridan equipment" and a number on it. It was sold to rail road in the beginning.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

The tag is located on the top of the transmission, slightly to the left of center and midway between the seat & shifter.

Nice B. Welcome aboard! I agree with steve. My C has a power unit hood on it. Has a brass tag that reads "WJ Craven. The road machinery men. Greensboro, NC". I would assume the power unit was used on an asphalt spreader or some other road construction equipment. Neat looking tag. Has ornate scrollwork around the border. I may keep it for decoration when I get the new hood.

Does your B have a drawbar? If so, can we see a pic of the rear? Do you have a PTO? Noticed it has foot brakes too. The older ones had hand brakes, but I think foot brakes were available before 44. Someone help me out please. |

If I read the chart right yours is a 1945 model.
Welcome to the forum. My friend has a 1946 B that he loves. I have a 37 WC and a 48 Oliver 70 along with a 41 WC and four others.

Welcome to the Forum. Nice looking little B. According to the YT web site the serial number indicates a 1945. Does it have a cover plate to the right of the pto so you can add a hydraulic pump?

Looks good, and I'll have to agree that it is a 1945 too. Check it out here:

Maybe I need to check my engine serial number? Would someone please tell me where to look for the engine number(s)?
Thanks,
David

They are both accurate, the one you checked has those years listed with the last serial number of the year. The chart switches to the first number of the year with the D series.

'44 is close enough for "guvmint" work. Unfortunately you can't edit your screen name. The "engine 7" wasn't supposed to be on mine but I can't get it off without starting over.

The engine number would be stamped on the left side, on the engine flange, where it bolts to the clutch housing.

By the way...yes, there is a plate on the opposite of the pulley gear box. So, is this for a live hydraulic option? How does that work? Put her to work today, had a good load of fire wood.

Nice B, The hydaulic pump that goes on back is a small piston unit, low volume, high pressure. It runs only with the PTO and belt pulley. Unless you have a plow or add on three point it is not much use.
I like your trailer it looks like a good match to the B. |
