Ok bought a stock original wc for my girlfriend to pull with at 3000 and 3500 3.5 mph its getting 175 govner spring and d17 weights to get the rpms up it’s got 13.6 28 on it now will the speed be ok with 15.5 38 ? I also have a set 18.4 26 I can build light spoke wheels for

Bradley, As long as your pulling rules allow those sizes you should be good to go! Some of the pulls I go to they pretty fussy on tire sizes. Here theyt allow one sire size over stock. So We have several WD series tractors with the 14.9's Someone like Dr. Allis can give you the speed info with different tire sizes. Me not so much. Hey good looking tractor, and it sounds like she is excited about it too! Will look forward to some pulling pictures as you progress with the tractor and your season! Reminds me I need to go finish those rim mods for the WD. Regards, Chris

I ran some numbers for you, using Nebraska Tractor Test info, for tire size and RPM.
The numbers result in the difference between 1300 rpm vs 1750 rpm and 11.2 x 24, WC tires, 43" in dia. But you may have to multi ply these numbers by 1.075, because they list the steel, 40" wheels, with the same 2.5 & 3.5 mph, for first and 2nd gear as the rubber 11.2's.
1st gear stock, 2.5 mph @ 1300 rpm:
18.4x26 = 4.47 @ 1750
15.5x38 = 4.87
2nd gear stock, 3.5mph @ 1300 rpm:
18.4x26 = 6.25 @ 1750
15.5x38 = 6.82

15.5 X 38's on a WC with 30 HP won't work will they ?? You'll kill the engine most of the time in LOW gear.

My question is more will the gearing work at 3.5 with 38 inc tires with more power or is the gearing just to high ....and something else need to change

3.5 MPH on any standard geared WC works just fine with 15.5 x 38 rear tires IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH ENGINE TO HANDLE IT.

For your combo, 3.5 mph, will put you at 1370 rpm with the 18.4's and 1258 rpm with the 15.5's. I think you would be better off, with the stock cam and take the engine to, 4 1/8 x 4 1/2 (240.55 CI), and use a bigger carb. At least you'll have your power at the 3.5 mph. I think it would work ok. At 5800 lb, I spin my tires (16.9x28), pretty easy with my stock D17. Oh, and get the engine to at least 9/1 compression.

Yea alan our club requires them on ALL tractors. Slow fast dosent mater.... that rule lowered our insurance cost
