I passed an Allis 8050 yesterday that was being used to pull gravity bins of corn.

It was in AWESOME condition. It looked so nice that for a minute, I thought it was a brand new tractor. It was spotlessly clean.

I wanted to stop and take pics, and talk to the owner/driver of the tractor. As luck would have it, out in the middle of nowhere, there were four on coming cars, and three behind me. Since the Allis was parked on the road, I would have created a traffic jam. I doubt that part of the road sees seven cars an hour, but when I was there, all of them decided to wreck my opportunity to talk AC with someone!

What year was the 8050? 

Can I assume it was a real Allis, or was the 8050 a product of the AGCO line up? 

Sorry to ask such dumb questions...it isn't every day you see something that nice!

8050 is genuine Allis Chalmers.  Produced from 1981-85.
 
Good to see some people keeping the old ACs looking good.

We had an 8050, until it burned up on us last winter. (think the cord on the block heater shorted out) It was an awesome tractor. Just the right size (153 HP) to do just about everything. It had a 2 range, 6 speed power shift transmission, both 540 and 1000 PTO's, nice 3 pt hitch, huge cab, good AC and heat, all around versatile tractor. Used it for baling, tillage, corn planting, corn chopping, grinding feed, etc.,  sure do miss it.  Darrel

Thanks for the information!

That 8050 was absolutely spotless. It was the proverbial "only used to pull wagons, and to drive to church on Sunday" kind of tractor.

It looked so nice that I thought it was a brand new tractor, right off the dealership lot. "Wait a minute, that's an AC 8050", I thought to myself, "not a new Agco."

Is the 8050 common? Did they build a bunch of them?

They built four models with the same frame, sheet metal and cab - 8010, 8030, 8050 & 8070.  Grand total production of all four models totaled slightly over 9000.  That's right, less than just about any other SINGLE model of A-C.  

It's a shame, because like Darrel says, they are a really nice tractor.  Most of them will never get traded off, they'll have to be pried from our cold hands!

The 8010 has the 649I engine.  The 8030, 8050, & 8070 have the 426 engines, 670T, 670I, & 670I respectfully.

They are both in Southern Illinois. $6000 for the 7040; complete engine overhaul less than 200 hours ago, new injectors and brand new fuel pump.

$15000 for the 8050; also a engine overhaul less than 200 hours ago. We have a gentleman that called this morning that is interested in both. He is looking this afternoon, let me know if you or someone you know are interested.

So what would the spotless, and I mean spotless, 8050 I saw be worth?

Assuming it was very, very low hours, fresh tires, etc., about as perfect as you could get for a 25 year old tractor...what would the value be?

I still cannot get over how nice that 8050 was. I'm no expert, but it looked too clean to have been a restoration.

Clovis, I don't know if the one you saw was FWA or not, but if it was, I've seen them priced anywhere from 20 to 30K if immaculate, if 2WD, 15 to 20K. Just kind of what I've been seeing in the papers.   Darrel

The 8050 I saw did not have FWA.
