 Topic: Trailer bearings?

I have a single axle trailer with #3500 axle that I need to replace the bearings on. Is there that great of a difference in the quality vs the price? Prices seem to be all over the place. What does every one suggest?

Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK!

I'm a Timken fan myself. I go to Standard Bearing when the need arises.

 US , China, or other is the question I have been asked the last time bought bearings.
Hopefully you get what you pay for still means something. But anymore it's just hope and pray.

I shop at a trailer parts sales shop nearby(Wentzville), they sell better grade parts(Name Brand) and at a decent price. May not be lowest but usually not the highest either. ETRAILER.com

Get the good name brand bearing, made in USA if possible. If you get them made out of inferior metal they will go bad and possibly ruin your axle stub and wheel hub. Like plummerscarin I go for Timken if I can.

I also use Timken as much as I can. you have a trailer, that means you haul stuff, is that stuff not good enough to use good bearings? hate seeing loaded trailers sitting (or rolled) along the roads cuz it's owner wanted to save a dime!

Don't 'poopoo' ALL the Made in China bearings ! I've got 1,000s of miles on a set on a 10 year old homebuilt I made, including first 100 miles with NO grease ! Just the squirt of 'packing' grease from the factory. I'm thinking proper bearing maintenance and a good grease are ,well, kinda important.

I did check out ETRAILER. They say the bearing are indeed made in China. But they also claim for as long as they have used them they have had no problems. They do have the kit I need.

I would also put the greaseable caps on them and grease them.

Don't know if they work heavy duty or not but Bearing Buddies give a running idea of how much grease is in there. Nice for light trailers.

My Gooseneck actually has grease zerks on the ends of the spindles inside the caps, lubes inner and outer bearings without removals.
