Topic has been beaten like a dead horse on here I know, but I am looking for old dealers that are out of business, but the original buildings are still there. An example would be Patterson & Sons just to the east of St Johns, MI. I am compiling a list and putting there locations on my google maps. I would eventually like to visit these places and talk with the owners and maybe possibly write a book.........probably never happen but you got to start some place.

Who had the dealership where the "Allis-Chalmers" letters were cemented into the roof?

Any dealers or locations you could share with me I would appreciate it

This would be a good place to start:
It shows locations of past dealerships. My great grandfather owned one in Deer Park, WA. The original building is still standing and is now an Automotive Repair Shop.

Don I remember when that picture of that closed dealership was posted on here. The allis chalmers was cemented on top of the building. I was thinking it was somewhere in Missouri??? but I could be wrong. It was a really neat building but looked to be falling in.

Suess of Stewartville MN. Building burned but the owner, maybe co-owner with his now passed father is still around doing consignment auctions in Racine Mn. He is retiring from that too in December. There was a write up on them in some magazine not too long ago. Where I used to work in Blooming Prairie MN, Peterson Implement, the owners are all gone and the building is converted into a NAPA auto shop.

My Idea is more of a pictorial history book. I would like to go and speak to the owners/families, get pictures of the dealership(or what remains) as it sits today and photos from when it was in its hayday and also a written history on each dealer.

J.C. Archer and Son, Inc., Shipman, IL. Building is still there on IL. Rt. 16 and it's still called "The Archer Building". It's a post, metal frame building. Original dealership was in an old gas station east of the Archer Building. Old gas station is now a restaurant. (Yum, right?)

Sorry to say, my grandfather's old A-C dealership in Jerseyville, IL. no longer exists. I'd be hard pressed to even guess the location. Super Wal-Mart, Burger King, Arbys, and other businesses have taken over all the properties in that area. It was called Hauter Farm Supply. I don't even have a picture of it. My dad and grandmother had absolutely no interest in the business so Grandpa sold it.

Norwalk Michigan.  Charles Smazal opened a small Allis Chalmers dealership way back.  As a child in the 1960s I listened to old Charlie's stories of taking in Teams on trade for a new tractor.  He claimed he had the first electric arc welder in manistee county at his dealership.  The original small wood building is still there.  I assume the new tractors sat outside and his office and repair/mechanics shop was inside.  Norwalk, located about 12 miles north of Manistee, on Old US-31 used to be on the main highway US-31.  It had a small railroad spur large enough for 3 or 4 railcars for loading and unloading tractors, local fruit and produce for the market. Back then Norwalk had a General Store that was also the Post Office, Filling Station and Passenger Rail service.  A railroad spur with a small warehouse, a railroad repair shack that housed a Put-Put railcar.  The Put-Put had a small one cylinder long stroke gasoline engine that replace the two-man yoke that powered the repair car.  Norwalk also had Charlie's tractor dealership, four houses and a little factory that I do not know what its product was.  Maybe a wristwatch or clock factory?

I believe Hancock also had a location in Blair.  My Dad bought a D 17 from them.  There were AC dealers sprinkled all over that country.  I doubt that the building is still there.
