splines messed up on coupler/shaft or bent linkage

There may be a ear broke off the ear of the mechanical coupler causing it to jump out,,it holds the detent balls to stay in ,seen that already

Had shaft pulled out last year and cleaned it up where it messed up on the end a little what about a mechanical coupler and how do you get to!
