This cold isn't fun anymore!!! Ethan, my
17 yr old grandson, has been working on his '55 Triumph TR3.  We got the brakes and clutch
done and all the hydraulics bled this week.  He took it for his first
drive this morning at about -32, no top, no gloves, and spun out on some ice and flipped it
upside down in the ditch about 1/4 mile down the road.  Fortunately the
ditch was full of about 4 feet of snow as he was still in it upside down
when it stopped.  He dug himself out and walked back here but was
pretty well frozen when he got here --ears and neck were packed full of
snow but no injuries other than a scratch on his knee.  Very little
damage to the car other than a broken windscreen and frame.  We have a
spare one here with a new glass, so not a big deal.  By the time the tow
truck got here about an hour later the oil had drained out of the
upside down engine and I told him there is a less messy way to change
the oil!! LOL  He's OK and the car is back in the shop.  Took a long
time to get all the snow out that was packed under the fender wells,
around the seats and under the dash!! He's a very lucky guy as it could have been really bad if the ditch wasn't full of loose snow. |

Thankfully he's ok. Cars can be fixed or replaced grandsons can not. i have wrecked my share of cars. My kids don't get to drive my convert able corvette until I've rode with them. Right now my daughter doesn't want to drive it its to old school. No power steering power brakes and a manual transmition she's not strong enough to safely operate the dual force clutch.

Thank God he's ok.  I hope it taught him something.  It's a hard lesson to learn, but it's a valuable one.
