Anyone going to Rollag this weekend? I have never been there. Which day would be the best to go?

Two years ago, by mid afternoon on Monday things began to wind down, the food vendors closed up but had food to give away. Lots of tractors got loaded and left the place. But it can't be done thoroughly in one day. Saturday and Sunday will have the most spectators too.

I took my camper and the WD45D there last night. It is already filling up fast in the camping area, but there is still room in the overflow field for campers. You can see a pretty good overhead view of the place with google maps and satellite view, just have it search for Rollag, mn you can see the camping area on the northeast end of the showgrounds and the small road that goes into the field north of that. They said there are people movers making the rounds starting at 6:00 AM so it still shouldn't be a problem commuting from a camper up there. The new shower facility is right by that connecting road so access is just as good as the main camping area. This will be my first time there since back in the early 70's I think.

We will be there Friday and will head for home Sunday afternoon 'cuz I work Monday. The show is too big for one day. I will be wearing my orange "Tony Carbaugh Enterprises" cap and my wife will have her Dad's antique AC straw hat--and other clothes, too! We'll stay in Pelican Rapids but will get to Rollag early to watch the start-up of the large engines. Lots to see and do and people to visit.

What's the weather supposed to be like there? It's only supposed to be in the low 70's here in Iowa. That will make Old Threshers in Mt Pleasant nicer this year.

I'll be there Saturday, I live only about 45 miles from there. As mentioned earlier Sat. & Sunday are the best days to be there.

Two years ago they had hook ups and showers for the workers, but only toilets and grass for the visitors for $35 whether one night or a week. Though that may have changed, and their web site would have more information. Likely if they have an area with hookups it was filled the day the campgrounds opened a couple days ago. http://www.rollag.com/plan.php says:

In 2008 I parked my camper at the KOA in Moorhead while I rode trains for 9 days. The operator of the KOA claimed she had many who stayed there and commuted the 35 miles to Rollag each day because of having problems with mud at Rollag in prior years. In 2008 it was dry, dusty and windy and a shower would have been nice at the end of each day. Even cold water like I found at Mt. Pleasant.
