Can a series I or II D17 Buda Diesel Head with water pump mount on the head
be used on a Series III or IV engine with water pump mount on the block?
That is with a "blanking plate" covering the water pump mount hole on the head of the older style (series I or II) head.

Thanks in advance.

are you wanting to keep the original water pump location?

some other considerations if not.
your fan blade is now that much higher, might need a different radiator or shroud.
longer fan belt, but not sure if the pulleys will line up either.

i believe that there was two different style injectors used.

Yes they can. That is how mine is, a block off plate on the block, pump on the head.

OK Great !!!!

I have an 17 IV and would like to keep water pump on the block.  Just needed some forum feedback to confirm my thoughts about the heads.

Now the injectors Hmmmmm.... I had not considered that.

Can the Later style injectors be installed in the earlier style head ?

As much demand there is for these heads it's a wonder someone hasn't had some made by now. I know they not cheap but what we gonna do in 10-20 years from now with all the decent ones are used up?
Can't fix stupid
