Went with some friends to a salvage yard today.  Never been there before.  Found a D19 Diesel with the front end knocked out from under it sitting back in the brush.  Story is the previous owner parked it at the top of a hill so he could roll it down the hill to start it.  Decided it wasn't close enough to the edge so pushed it forward with a loader and it rolled down the hill, striking trees, and getting it's front axle knocked out from under it.  The salvage yard owner has 2 gas D19's sitting there, too, for parts.  Intends to rebuild the diesel.  Hope he gets her done.  Been sitting there a while.  Sad.

I’ve lost track of how many things that IVe inquired about buying at scrapyards that the owner wouldn’t sell because he was going to fix it up. Now may years later most all of them are completly hidden becasue of the trees. I even know of a WD45D that when I first saw it in the late 60s only had something wrong with the injection pump. It had 4 good tires at the time and the sheet metal was in good shape. By the last time iI saw it about 10 years ago it was about 30 feer down in a sinkhole. I also know of a nice looking D19 diesel tricycle that a farmer quit using because the pinion bearing went bad. For years I asked if I could get it to fix up. The answer was alwas, Nope, I want to restore it. Well when the bulldozers came in to clear for the housing development, it was hauled off in a dumpster with a bunch of other treasures 😿
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
