Allis sure had a dealer network in Mo. Can never understand how some folks say the dealers were too far apart but I think this was in other states- there was an AC dealer in St James Mo but I think they just dealt in lawn equipment and smaller tractors + equipment: can't remember the name

A&H in Drexel, the one who hopefully has info is Brad Addleman, he is active on the Gleaner Combines Facebook group. His late father Jay was the one involved in the dealership and was a friend of my late father. Dad met Jay back in the day, somehow was introduced (I think by Harrells out of Burlington CO) when dad was looking for F spike tooth cylinders. Jay was converting a few to rasp bar. |

Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.
If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help. |

Welcome to the best forum on the net. Unfortunately due to circumstances we were unable to host the Gathering after all. However, with all the cancellations it did allow Madrid, NY to make up a date they lost due to covid. We will still be featuring Allis at Western Missouri Antique Tractor & Machinery Association in Adrian, MO, the last weekend in July, 2023. You are pretty close to George Hess and his 1/3 scale WC’s. |

The dealership in Owensville, MO was called Schneider Brothers (or Schneider Bros. as they always styled it), it was owned by my grandfather and his brother. I am not sure if there are any living employees but I can ask my aunt and uncle for their memories (my father who spent most of his time there unfortunately has passed away).

I did not attend Crowder College. I went to Missouri Southern in that time frame. Then, I went to Law School at Mizzou.
There is a StrAmel in the area. We must be cousins. When our ancestors got off the boat, there were different ways to spell the family name. Stremel and Stramel were two of the ways. Richard Harp is a friend. He farmed some land north of Diamond that was owned by a widow. When Richard got tired of farming, the widow decided to sell the land. He told me about it and our family bought it. We paid FMV and it turned out great deal. Really good farm land for what is now a really low price. |

Yes, Greg. That's who it was.
I wasn't "that" sure of the first name, but you nailed it. Btw, did you go to Crowder College in Neosho 75-77? Because your name sure sounds familiar to me.

Richard Harp started Diamond Tractor at the location you mentioned. It may have been called Harp Tractor. I know it was called Diamond Tractor under the next owner, Don Riechman.

Bharper, You are correct on the Howard Buick being an Allis dealer at the time.
Our families are personal friends. It's where dad got our Gleaner A and later on the XT3. Side story: at dad's funeral, us boys and cousins were riding in the hearse to the cemetery and the driver visiting with us a little about how he knew dad. Come to find out, he was the mechanic at the car and tractor dealership and told us, if he recalled correctly, that dad had the first (big) self propelled combine in the county as he could cut a 12' swath! There's a Howard Machine Shop, or was, ran by David Howard. His brother, Steve, stayed in the car business, I think. They're still around Carthage, the last I knew of and it wouldn't take me long to verify. Also, there was an AC dealer up at Golden City ran by the Bishops. It was called Crossroads Tractor and Imp. according to this planter manual from 4/22/80. Seems to me that it was called Bishop's Tractor and Implement before the name was changed as they took on other brands It's about 5 miles east of town on the main highway. They're in Adam Stratton's back yard, almost. It was one one of those fun memories of going to the dealership with dad when he had to go get a part or parts. Then, there was an AC dealer for awhile down at Diamond, Mo. I think it was called Diamond Tractor Co. north of town on what was Hwy. 71 then. Matter of fact, I think that it was a Bob Harp, or Harper, that ran that one. It sat on the east side of the highway and was a blue and white metal building. Well, I see that I missed the post of 180 Puller already listing the Diamond dealership. I'm sure that you've already got Balk's in Nevada , listed somewhere. Hey 180, did you know an Alan Hancock? We ran Allis's to farm with and dad was also a Funk's G Hybrid Seed dealer/distributor.

Cottons Truck Service-Joplin (short lived dealer, my grandpa bought a new combine from them in 69’). 1950’s era there was a dealership in Jasper, maby called Baker Implement. I think Howard Buick/Allis Chalmers was formerly Hill Implement located where Fastenall currently is in Carthage. Don’t know the details but about 15 years ago I remember seeing a AC dealer sign on a pole next to McDonald Co High School at Anderson. I was by there last year and most of the sign was gone-maby a former dealer.

I think it was Reisinger Implement in Independence not far from the Gleaner plant? I own a D-19 diesel that was sold new there in 1963..The man I bought it from earlier this year bought it used there in 1966 with 600 some hours on it.. More dealers that haven't been mentioned... Wallace then Shuberts in Butler,MO Harvey Impl Co in Harrisonville,MO A&H in Drexel,MO Schoen in Freistatt,MO became JD dealers in 80's George Implement Co then Kottwitz Farm Supply in Osceola,MO ?????? Fairview,MO bought a UC Allis there in 1976-may have been out of business Diamond Tractor in Diamond,MO the sign was still there a few years ago Larry Furnell??? in Sedalia,MO he used to pull a 180 Allis If I could find it I have a 1962 Successful Farming magazine that had an extensive list of Missouri AC dealers..
