Allis G Generator Wiring

Good news!  I got all the parts to put my dads G back together.  Trying to get it ready for the tractor drive Sept 18.

One thing I do know for sure is it wasn't charging when it was running.  My dad said it did work before so I assume the generator is still good.  Just want to make sure the right wires are going to the right places.  I was thinking that a new cutout relay would be a good idea.  Anyone have any Napa or equivalent part numbers I could use?

Any help with the wiring or generators in general would be appreciated.  My WD45 is converted to 12V with and alternator so I never had to bother messng with a genny yet.

If you restored the Tractor and painted the inside of the dash panel, you just insulated the 3 position switch and removed the ground needed to full field the gennie with the new paint job. The 3 pos. switch needs to be grounded in order for the charging system to work properly. Check to make sure that switch has a good clean ground to the panel and the panel is also grounded. I always suggest to our customer's to run an auxilary ground wire off the mounting screw to the Pos. ground post of the battery or to where the ground cable attaches. This ensures a good ground to the switch. Check it out and see if this is your problem.....

Don't forget to polarize the genny or it won't charge. Jump the battery terminal at the relay to the armature terminal for just a second. You should see a spark. I have already had to do this several times until it worked. Bob
