I am not having any luck getting the snap ring that goes on the bull gear inside the case. small snap ring that is against the inner thrust bearing. the ends of the snap rings are sort of dished out. when I use the snap ring I have the snap ring sort of twists and I cant get it on. tried to upload a photo but don't thin it is doing it. it looks as though I need a special type of snap ring pliers. im sure some one on here has done it so what type of snap ring pliers did you use. need some advice on how to get the snap ring on. book says you can replace the seals and bearing without taking the case off but its sure wearing me out Thanks norm

I am thinking it was a large pliers like with 2 flat jaws that expand when handles are squeezed together - also had a lock lever to hold ring open .
But once ring is onto axle as the shaft is fed through gear just use a pry to slide ring to it's final position in groove
