locally last Sunday, a man was cutting tree limbs off up high (45 ft) standing in a rented high reach bucket. another person was on the ground. some bolts snapped that held the bucket, and that sent the guy and the bucket down to the ground, the guy landed face first, the bucket land on his back. rescue crews were called then the med helicopter, he died a short time later before he could be air lifted out. so said...the bolts that held the bucket on were not the original high grade bolts, but were over the counter soft grade. ya'll be careful out there and if you rent "anything" look it over first. i'm sure prayers would help the family!

I would imagine there will be a lawsuit.  I have a bucket truck which I won't rent and seldom loan out.  I do check it over every so often.  Makes you think!

It's too bad bout that accident especially if it was due to compromised rental equipment. The method I use is if it has to hold more than 50#,,it gets grade 8 hardware. the difference is not enough to make you worry.

apparently (hear say) is one bolt snapped, and that pivoted the basket upside down with him in it, he had a harness on, but that was attached to the basket, the guy on the ground watched this happen and tried to get the basket lowered to the ground, but it was lowering to slow, then the other bolt snapped and that's when he fell with the basket, the basket landed on him hard, prolly breaking his back, as his body was laying in a lot of different directions that isn't normal.
