Has anyone ever started in at the south end of the trail or any of the old cattle trails and headed north in a motor home?? I've got a book called The Cattle Towns, sorta interesting. Is there anything to see of interest, relating to the old west. Old gal is talking about getting rid of the goats and chickens and leaving for warmer areas late in the year. I started the generator and turned on the air cond for the first time today. Everything worked well. I drained the fresh water tank today, will fill it tomorrow and ck out the water system tomorrow. Old gal wants to use it for a flea MKT about 30 miles away, nothing like getting to use it for the first time that close to home. Hoping you all are having a GREAT BOOMING 4th.

Not the conversion ferd, gonna just use that rough riding underpowered loose steering sucker for flea markets, or do a little more work and sell it. It doesn't have a crapper, old gal don't like that. I told her I had a 6" hole saw and a big funnel, but??? You know the LOOK. I picked up a 1996-30+ ft Winnebago Brave. 454 motor- 19" tires, air ride, 4000 watt Genny, spare tire, 78000 miles but the motor has 33000 miles on it. This thing will out run that V10 ferd, has the rear hitch, wired for trailer brakes and lights, new crapper, even come with a complete tow bar. I don't have anything I can tow with the bar. Sorta looking for a car dolly(toter). The boys at the car dealership I worked for gave me a goof cart that needed battery's. Cost me $1300 for those darn heavy 6 volts. Will pull it till I find a car that will pull on all 4 or a tow dolly. If'n she makes up her mind to sell these filthy old goats, give away the 20+ year old horse and pony. We might leave sooner than later. Will load up the Jack Russell and the Male Pyrnese. They've become buds. Probably gonna have to find someone to take the female Pyr, She's getting real old, oldest son has a young one might let him have her. I gotta figure out how to take the dog house off so I can replace the air filter. Its supposed to have some sorta wrench to take it off. Im hoping its just an allen wrench. I might convert it to a K&N type so it is up front.

You can buy and awful LOT of gas for a Club car for the cost of them batteries. Keep a good muffler on em and they are nice and quiet.
Sounds like a nice trip Tom. I'd enjoy it, but I doubt if the Mrs. would. I hope your 4th was safe and wonderful. I sat in the house and listened to the rain... ![]() |

The area where we live was once a small community along the trail called Thurston. I have not been able to find much information on it, other than there were I think 5 churches and 5 saloons, a post office, and stable. A neighbor of mine still has the operational water pump used to water the horses while the cattle were down at a creek a few hundred yards away. Some of the neighbors have dug up chunks of brick/cement when preparing for new construction, so it's obvious something was here. I'd love to have been able to see it all those years ago.

Cart goes on the cart trailer, old gal may be back there if the backseat driver part of her gets to running too much. I'll just have to put a seat belt on the goof cart. Thanks guys. I'm gonna do some serious looking in Oct and Nov.

Ya Craig, we got a little over 1-1/2" in about 3 hours. We've had 1 day in a row now without any rain...and counting.

After having over 17" of rain in the past 3 weeks we had a great day today. Got the new cement poured today, cleaned up a lot of stuff, started on the new wall for the addition on the honey shed, went to an auction late this afternoon, came home with 4 cans of Mountain Dew from the concession stand, and nothing else. Grandson helped all day. Fed him well tonight, paid him and filled his gas tank. Been on the inversion table tonight, still can't get this one darn place in my back to pop in. Filled the water tank in the motor home, pump works, no leaks, gonna try the water heater Sunday after noon. Took sometime to find the shut offs for all the darn water tank drains. They are well hidden under the bed. One thing I haven't figured out, there are 3 water tanks under this thing. A sewage tank on the drivers side, a water tank on the right side, but what is the 3rd tank for?? It is in between the other 2. I can't find anything about it in all these books that came with the unit. Hoping you guys had as productive a day as I did.
Desert Joe, I'm interested, still trying to unfog my glasses from the Good Guys Car show. 90°+ and the gals dressed for it. However I sure appreciate hot pants and cow gal boots on the same young lady! An old friend of mine told me 45+ years ago to take a trip to the Stampede. He said exactly the same thing you did. I'm guessing the gals you saw might be the grand daughters of the gals he saw. Edited by HD6GTOM - 06 Jul 2018 at 9:53pm |

Tom...there's a black tank, and a gray tank, and a water tank. everything your fresh water tank services goes into them other 2 tanks. the gray tank is from the kitchen/bathroom sinks and the shower. when you dump the black tank (first) then you dump the gray tank. shut the valve on the black tank before dumping the gray tank, as that will flush out the hose so you don't gits chitty hands.
