Was a discussion here a while back on them - wondering about getting one and between electric and battery powered one - figured the electric might run on their low price generator and be about same price as the battery unit .
Wondering how good they are and how they hold up ?

I have the black and Decker also.  Runs fine just much slower than a gas unit.  I have no proof but figure an electric will run faster than the battery unit unless you get one of those fancy battery units that run at 40 volts?  I would also assume the electric will be a little lighter as it won't be carrying the weight of the battery but again I have no proof, just assumptions and you know what they say about that. I have a B&D electric one its pretty light and works very well. I after getting my wife a battery weed wacker I wont buy and more battery outdoor tools. a 100 ft extension cord reaches most places near the house. when I used it in the tree row I just drove the welding truck out and plug in to it. the miller welder generator puts out plenty of power and I can drive it to where its needed. I have one of the pole saw s that goes on the weed wacker it works great but is heavy.

HF one is a 40V lithyum andlooks like batter is by had grip end, thing is most trees I want to use it to trim are couple hundred feet from any outlet .
But spending $150 for one and then needing a $50 battery spare is a little expensive toy . I bought one of their cheap battery saws-all last year and a extra battery , then a drill with battery , problem is they run down fast and need the 3 batteries to work for about a hour and then takes long time to recharge . Real slow cutting tree limbs with it even with aggressive blade so thought a chain saw would be faster .

Friend has electric one.  He puts the genny in the trailer and pulls it around with the tractor to wherever it's needed.

I have had an electric chainsaw with a detachable telescoping pole for years and love it. I too load up the generator if I am remote from electricity. It is not near me but I believe it is a Remington chainsaw.

I've got an electric pole saw and love it! My 'mobile platform' consists of my D-14 towing my 5by8 trailer with big battery powering a BIG UPS  to power the polesaw. I can safely stand in the trailer and cut down branches waaaaay up there. Sure beats trying to wrestle a saw on a ladder !
I also have a 14" electric chainsaw for cutting up them branches into small firewood. when cut 12" or so, to feed the electric log splitter. Nice being able to push a button and not fight the 2strokes !

I have a B&D pole saw (20V) and like it a lot. I can take 1 or 2 sections off it to have just the saw. it doesn't have as many cutting teeth on it as a regular gasser saw, but it cuts well, and I can reach about 8 more feet with it beyond my arm length. HF one was cheaper, but could never get the time to go to HF to look at it or buy it. this one was a local buy.

I bought a DR pole saw,  battery operated,  it isn`t worth the powder to blow it up as my dad would say.   It worked about 10 minutes and it quit.  Still has the plastic wrapper on the handle.  Tried several times to contact the company and never did make contact,  nor did they ever call me back.  The reason I went that route a couple years before that I had purchased a walk behind brush hog.  I love it,  has not given me a second`s  worth of trouble.  But I never tried to get service on it either.
