Yep. Had to pay Medicare direct when I turned 65 because I was not drawing SS yet. Since I started drawing SS last month, they take it out of my benefits.

YEP.  Part A is automatic and at no extra cost to you.  Part B is paid out of you monthly payment, I think mine is 135.00.  Part C and D are the supplemental and prescription coverage's.  They are at you discretion, however, you only have 1 shot at it.  You either get it when you are first eligible, or you are SOL.

Waited 2 years after retirement age to get on medicareas health insurance was fuly paid by outfit i was driving for - they had it set up so I had to do it or lose coverage for wife - so SS did not take anything extra from check until I applied for the medicare - but i had to turn in paperwork that the insurance was matching or better than suplemental insurance - so when wife turned 65 I covered both of us with other policies and it was cheaper and better coverage through U-CARE here in MN .
I still have that as it only costs $56 a month for everything including Part D

Had Tri Care Prime when I retired from the Guard at 60, covered both my wife and myself with very low deductible.  When we turned 65 we had to go on Medicare A and B which costs almost 10 times as much as I was paying for Tri Care Prime. Now Tri Care for Life picks up our supplemental and prescriptions. If Congress had to use Medicare you can bet it would be greatly improved as would SS.

How much is taken out depends on what coverage you select.
