I'm having a Gleaner E engine shipped via Fastenal to me. I know the pallet dimensions, but do not know the engine weight. Has anyone shipped an E or D17 engine and can give me a weight on it? I've heard 800 lbs, but that sound really high. Dad and I could carry a WD engine by ourselves, I can't imagine a later 226 being that much heavier.

A complete model G-226 engine assembly ready to be shipped was 700 lbs. This includes every thing from fan thru flywheel, cast iron #4 flywheel housing and all accessories like the muffler, oil bath air cleaner, magneto, etc and a lifting bracket attached to the valve cover studs. A similar model W-226 configured the same way (less lifting bracket) was 627 lbs.  I'm thinking the #4 cast iron bell housing and air cleaner would be at least 100 lbs.

So they are pretty heavy.  This one is no adapter, no manifold, no intake.  Pretty much a bare block, pan, and head.  I'm not sure Fastenal is going to vary much from 600 vs 700 lbs of weight.  Thanks,

That shipping weight of 700 lbs had to include some sort of a wooden pallet for the engine to be easily moved around from dock to truck without damage, so maybe another 100 lb deduct ??
