I am thinking of switching from 12v alternator to 12 volt generator on my WD45. I have several 12v generators. Do I need a certain regulator ? Will I need the correct light switch ? Will wiring be same as a later 12v allis ? thanks,Larry

Hi Larry!
As a rule of thumb, I always match a VR to a Generator. I look at the part number on the tag, and match the correct VR to the unit. There are a number of different Gennies out there with different Amperage outputs. You want to match the correct VR to the Generator of choice. This way you have a match set. We have a pile of different types of VR's on the shelf. I'm sure I have one or more in stock for your Gennie of choice if interested. As far as the Headlight switch, I suggest you upgrade to a HD fused 12V unit along with a heavier Ignition switch. The OEM 3 pos. Headlight switch, does not like the fast moving 12V current. They eventually fail due to the selector disc inside of them that warps. I can fix you up with the correct switches also if interested. Drop us a line. I'd be glad to help ya out with any parts or info.... Steve@B&B |
