Tractor Insurance

I am with Auto Owners and my tractors are insured on a rider with my farm insurance for a value I set on them. Cost is negligible, unless a person has 50 of them. They are insured for theft, fire etc.  When I am hauling them they are covered by my truck insurance with the same company

I have a blanket coverage on all of mine and a stated dollar value on each one, the total of the individual stated value is less than the blanket because I have them stored in multiple locations and it would take a huge natural disaster to take out my whole collection at one time.
Whenever I get a new tractor I need to provide the serial number, year and model (no need for the mfg, he knows they are all AC!) to my agent. Another thing people need to make sure they have is liability insurance if they are taking the tractors anywhere at all, most normal homeowners policies will not cover farm tractors for liability. Something as simple and fun as a tractor show or ride could be a problem if someone got hurt. I have American Family Insurance and a great agent which is a must.

My tractors are covered for liability in public places only! Driving on the road etc. I thought they would be covered by my homeowners policy. Not so. Assume nothing. Tim I sent you a PM.

I used Farm Bureau for years. The agent told me here while back it would cost about $10 per thousand of the tractor's worth to insure it for six months. It doesn't cover break downs, no one steals tractors (5 mph get away, duh), not very often a tractor is involved in an accident, your only worry is fire. My buildings are covered for fire, I don't think the contents are, I guess I'll just take my chances for now.

My father or myself has never removed a key from a tractor that I can remember in my life, and they sit in an open shed. The reason I asked the agent about insurance is that my Mother is there by herself now and I thought local low lifes might learn this. Most crooks are opportunist, they want to get it and go. No crook is going to bring a trailer and take 30 minutes to load a tractor. The funny thing is, my Dad loaned a two bottom AC turning plow that went to the D10 to my Uncle years ago. They are both gone now, so I asked my cousin for it back. He told me someone stole it. I asked him how did someone steal a turning plow? He told me they came over with a tractor with a front end loader. That seems hard to believe, but he does have land that no one lives on, so I guess anything possible. Long story short, I will never see that plow again.

My deal is I have to run the road because a creek divides my property. I assumed I was covered by my liability coverage but after checking found out different. I am not a farmer or rancher so that is out for me. Liability is not bad price wise. Never assume anything with insurance.

I have State Farm Insurance, have had for 45 plus years. Not once have they ever let me down. Got to thinking one day about my tractor toys figured I would insure them like my many guns. All together diffent ball game,had to have verifiable appraisles from Agco dealer. But it was well worth checking out they would not take stated value for antique tractors. Also found out parades are high risk. Although a 220 or 200 are a little big for most parades I ask to see if it was covered. Glad I did, now I know I have good coverage. Never assume anything with insurance. Friend thought he was covered by his insurance, he was until he got away from the farm. Lucky he did not get sued. Your insurance is only as good as your agent, I know mine is the best had a fire Christmas morning 2013. My agent drove 35 miles to bring me something to eat for Christmas and even though I lost alot State Farm and my agent Ty Turek were there.
