7020 Clutch

I am new to the Allis "world" and just found this forum and I'm hoping you all can help. I recently bought this 7020 through an online auction. I'm going to put a loader on it and then mainly use it on a sationary grain cart. The problem is that the clutch pedal is very hard to push and whether cold or warmed up, it will not "hold" it in first gear and gears grind shifting into all positions. Do I need a clutch? If so, may just cut my losses before it gets expensive. Thanks.

What do you mean it won't hold it in first gear? It pops out of gear or you can't shift into first? On my 7050, when I first got it, it had a very stiff clutch pedal and wouldn't shift without grinding and it was almost impossible to shift it into first gear when running. It wasn't long and the cable broke. It was the cable as MACK said. On my brother's 7030, his was also got hard to shift into gear without grinding but the clutch pedal wasn't stiff. I tried adjusting the cable as MACK suggested to you but on the 7030 that did no good. Then I took a look at the bushings in the pivot linkage and although they really didn't look too bad I replaced them and it's work great ever since. We love both tractors and they have been a part of the farm for nearly 20 years.

Thanks for the responses. When I say it doesn't hold it in first, I mean with the clutch pedal pressed to the floor the tractor is still trying to move forward in first gear.

Could possibly be warped plates too that cause it to creep but I'm guessing cable

Since I don't have a local dealer I'm checking in to ordering a cable and manuel online.
Another problem has developed which could be related or not. There are six warning lights on the dash behind the steering wheel. The cover is missing so I'm not sure what they represent. The light at the lower right corner lights up at low idel. What are these lights monoriting? Like I said, I have not gotten a manuel ordered yet.

I will try to help with the warning light part of your question. My 7000 has 8 "squares". Bottom 2 are not used. Left side starting on top is alt., engine oil and trans oil temp. Right side starting on top is turn sig. ind., not used and trans oil pressure. Trans oil pressure blinking at idle is normal-book says should be out by 1800 RPM-mine goes out long before that. Hope this helps.
