I am thinking about picking up an All Crop to harvest grain at my dad's. Only thing is there are none for sale within 1000 miles from his place. So I will have to trailer it home from where ever I am able to find one. My question's are (1) what are the dimension of the 60, 72 and 90 series and (2) how long of a trailer I will need to transport it home?
Thanks in advance for the info.
Leonard

yazallcrop.com has a couple of pages on trailering and towing. it should answer your questions, as i have no experience. im sure there is plenty of input out there also. but this will get you started.
here is a direct link to the trailering info. note that it is a pdf file and you will need adobe acrobat reader to view http://www.yazallcrop.com/images/trailering.pdf |

If you want to haul one from Nebraska, I have a real nice 60 that I would like to see go somewhere to be back in the field. Doesn't need much to be field ready. 402-395-2950

Leonard, With the tens of thousands of all crops built in 20 plus years, there's got to be a few around Tacoma. How to find them I don't know. Maybe SingingPig can help. Good luck.

1000 miles is too far to tow one, but I towed a 72 about 100miles. Had an off set hitch made to bring the tow point almost in line with the curbside of my pick-up. This allowed the 72 to track almost in-line with the truck and my lane. The bearings were good and I could maintain road speed and didn't interfere with oncoming traffic and I wasn't running the shoulder either. Wish I could take credit for the hitch but the seller of the unit came up with the idea and built it. Wow did it work good.

Dale,
Can you post a picture of the hitch? I just bought an All Crop 66 and need to tow it about 50 miles. I need to make an offset hitch to get it home.
Thanks,
Mike

I have a 90 that will go out and harvest without much work other than greasing and oiling the sickle. I limber it up every year for the past few years but have never used it. Needs a Scour-Kleen screen. I was just going to remove the Scour-Kleen. Probably shouldn't sell it but I need the space in the shed. $1000 takes it. Located in SE MN.

Speaking of white knuckle driving Tom, I pulled a 60 from 10 miles East of Rochester MN to my place 20 miles West of town. I found out there are no good ways to get from the East side to the West without either adding lots of miles or going through a good part of the city. Thought, well it can't be that bad. Forgot about 4 lane highway and once you're in the slow lane just how precarious it is to get over to the fast lane. You can't even get a hint at what's coming. Thank goodness it wasn't a very long stretch but of course it started to really rain and the lightning was awesome just as I pulled up into town. Never so glad to get past that city. The kicker is it wasn't even my 60 and I had made an earlier trip the previous day pulling another 60 for the same guy. Got lost in the hills trying to go around the south side of town. Practically my own back yard but found roads I'd never been on before. Ended up to be a scenic drive. At least it was Sunday and not much traffic on those roads that day.

Leonard --- If you come up with an offset hitch, that is by far the easiest way, if you do not have to go too far. Some folks will differ, but 50 - 75 miles is about as far as I would tow one. I have trailered a 60 about 400 miles. The watchout, the trailer must be no less than 102' wide to hold a 60 with out taking things apart, or doing special blocking with a tire hanging over. Fun trip trailering, nothing in the rear view mirror but orange.
A relief to get one home, and great to have working in the field. Hope you find one.

Remember that the 60, 66 and earlier 72's all had bushing bearings in the wheels. They are LOW SPEED only. Grease them well and don't go too fast!! You need a deckover trailer to carry them. I did it on a non deckover and had to use a big forklift to load and unload. The Allcrops also don't have much clearance underneath, so take some sturdy boards to block up in front of the ramps so that the approach angle isn't too steep. A good ditchbank would work well so that you could back it straight on.

Anything is possible to transport an allcrop, just depends on how bad you want it. Last month I hauled a super 100 allcrop 950 miles from northern Minnesota to Michigan, even brought it across the Mackinaw bridge. This was on a 26 foot gooseneck behind a 3/4 ton pickup, the trip was interesting but thankfully uneventfull. Harold

Well, I picked up the All Crop 66 this morning. It was made in 1953 and is in working condition. Other than a flat tire (which was dry rotted anyways) about half way home the trip went well. I'm glad I had a spare. I made an offset receiver on my "reese" hitch this past week at work. It worked great. I'll try and post a picture later this week. Or if anybody wants I can send you a drawing with dimensions. Just PM me. Thanks for all of the input (on the board and by email) from everyone.
The highlight of the trip was an 80's year old man getting excited about seeing the All Crop. Wish I could have talked to him but I was pulling out on the road after greasing the hubs.
Mike

Tom,
I just sent you a message on your website for the All Crop registry. I'm planning on breaking ground for my shop in the next week or so. And then I'll start working on the 66 this winter.

Mike, I'd like to take you up on your offer to forward me the design plans of your offset tow hitch to the square tube hitch reciever for towing the All Crop 72 behind an F-250.
Thanks. Jeff Meehl, 610 Westfield St., Middletown, CT 06457
