yes 844. do not think it would be hard to locate a used one here in the US but you may be money ahead to fabricate with transport costs. all HD16 manifolds prior to Series B with turbos are the same I believe. early hd21 buda manifold would work as well no turbo. I actually have 1 but don't care to sell it.

When doing your searches be sure to include the engine series number "IE 16,000" along with what your using which is the cubic inch displacement of the engine.
There was several different exhaust manifolds that where used on the "844 cubic engine".

I can take a pic next time I'm there but no way of knowing when that will be.It's next to a place I deliver seed to but I don't do the scheduling. Will have to get someone to accept texted photo and put on here.
It's in Walnut Grove IL a little N/E of Macomb.

So far no luck on my search. I have my local Agco shop looking at old dealer inventories as well.
I have a crack on my center section of my exhaust manifold but I'm going to take it off clean it out and braze it when ready. My dealer was able to get me all new gaskets, studs and connection rings new. Still looking for you . |

Re fixing that crack.
Have a look at the Lincoln application dodger for Ferroweld for repairing things like cast iron manifolds. Went into some detail last time I looked. A very hard electrode to find in Australia. A neighbour has a supply and he's repaired the exhaust manifold on our truck exhaust successfully. It was mentioned for antique vehicle repairs as it rusts like the original whereas nickel repairs don't. |

Just a reminder: Just because a number is cast into a part doesn't mean that is the part number, it could be just a "casting" number and the actual part number could be something else.
AC would sometimes use the same casting for different multiple parts. |

Agreed.
My HD16DC has an engine number of 4393hdc. My same 3 sections of exhaust manifold with parts numbers from my owners parts manual that came with the machine, are different than those listed by our good friend gem dozer. |

Can you post a picture of your broken manifold? I'm curious how bad it might be.

This might be a difficult solution but, ...
A couple of years ago I was going to make a custom exhaust system for car. A local company said they could waterjet cut a 3/8" thick steel flange for the header pipes. I was going to use a tube bender and have the local welding shop make the pipes and weld them to the flange. Quoted cost of the one-off waterjet flange was "less than a hundred dollars". The welder would charge about $250.00 P.S. Somewhere on Youtube there is a video of a guy making a simple custom exhaust for an International dozer. He took a big steel pipe and made a "log" runner style exhaust. Edited by Ferdinand - 03 Dec 2017 at 5:15pm |
