When you get your picture in the preview box there is a height and width box and the actual size of the picture shows up in these boxes. If the numbers are higher than 800 x 600 it will not fit on the page. You can change these numbers but need to keep the ratio between them the same or the picture will be stretched or scrunched.
I guess that doesn't work when you use photobucket. With Picasa you can upload at different sizes for different apps. I don't remember if photobucket lets you do that. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 29 Jul 2010 at 8:23pm |

Photobucket had those size boxes but no numbers so I had no Idea what to change them to not knowing what the picture was at. I could have guessed.

What is your serial number? Looks very close to my dad's M2 - black cab interior, engine ladder, etc.

I don't know the number off hand, I'll look tomorrow night. I was thinking, dreaming, I should paint the thing with the metallic silver of the new Gleaners. It would look real sharp.

Neighbor across the road from the 1 room country school I went to had one of these when I was a bit younger. I can remember sitting in the classroom watching that combine mow thru the the field while I should have been doing my studies. Thought it was really cool how the unloading auger folded and unfolded when they unloaded on the end.
We had a JD 95 at home and I thought that M2 was amazing.

The blower is a hillside attachment. When the combine tilts to one side or the other the blower directs a stream of air into the downhill side to redistribute the grain out over the center of the seives so it doen't bunch up against the down hile side wall. JCinPA

Your combine looks like it has been well cared for - congradulations. The newer rotors are so popular, are the older conventionals still bringing good money at auctions? Does it have a 301 or 426 engine? Nice machine... |

301 and it was super cheap. All the Allis dealers are gone from the area that I bought this. Got the combine with nice 15' bean head and the 6-30 corn head for $1,800. Figured I saved it from the scrappers. Now where I live there are still a couple of good dealers although one pushes CaseIH but they have parts. An F3 a couple of years ago brought $8,400 base machine and at that sale a nice looking 1480 only fetched $2,300 with 20' head and a real nice looking big MF from the mid to late 80,s with 25' head brought about the same as the 1480. I didn't look inside either the 1480 or MF to see if they needed work but they were polished nice. Then a couple of 7700's at the same sale brought less than $1000 each. I know one was $700. A person could have been set up real fast in farming for little money at that sale. Comments from the crowd when the F3 sold were "I can't believe that silver seeder sold that high". I heard that one my self and a real Gleaner fan I know real well turned and chewed the guy out. We both knew the man who bought the F3 and he was proud as a peacock. The Gleaner fan guy I know so well actually owns a 1666 but he used to have an M3 and he told the heckler that the M3 was the best and cheapest machine he'd ever run and if he didn't have so much stuck into his 1666 he'd be back to Gleaner. He runs 8 or 900 acres and 2 years ago he stuck $4,000 into the cleaning shoe and fan and last year he stuck $13,000 into the rotor. First chance he gets he tells me it's back to a Gleaner. I told him, why are you so willing to spend big dollars on that red thing but he would just limp his Gleaners along back when he had them. He said cause he could fix them himself and he usually just patched but now the red one goes into the dealer.

If you want it to be a hydro I'll just get the decal put in place. It's a hydro. Just $5,800.

michael, there was a real nice L3 at Smith's Mill. I know the guy who had it and he was real fussy. Traded for an R50 or 52. I don't know if it's still there. Some are worth the extra miles and I'd rate that one as one of those worth it.

I don't think he had an L2. I think it was an L3. I'll ask this weekend at the local threshing show just for curiosity's sake.

Looks like a great machine. I had an M2 for years and would still have it if it could have handled an 8 row. We ran a 630 head also in corn. It didn't have a sidehill blower but wish it had one. I think in the 10 or so year we had it, we probably stuck about 1,000 total in it. It did need the rattler chains replaced. Another good design was the steel bushings in the feeder beater instead of rubber ones. One area to take a quick peak is at the front of the straw walkers. They like to wear holes in the tops in front and cobs will easily fall thru. I had to patch ours up. I've seen a few others that way also. Also on the chopper belt, hopefully it is a 2 piece belt system. Ours was a 1 piece and real long. Once in a while it would jump the pulleys. I added a few more pulleys in the system to keep the bounce out. I also had to turn the blades on the chopper. Other than that, you should enjoy it. Good find. Greg

Also the bin extensions was an excellent idea. The auger floats on top of the grain and the extensions open upward.
