Hi all,
Hopefully someone can explain whats going on with my 49 C numbers.
The Tractor No (by the shifter) is C78082 Which, according to the lists, makes it a 49.
The Engine block STAMPED number (on left rear of engine block) is CE121220G Which again, according to the lists, makes it a 49.
But here is where it gets wierd. The engine block CASTING number (above the freeze plug on the right of the tractor) is AM 2916 25. (and we tripple checked it too) This, according to the list on Brians site,
would suggest that its a 53 block. How could that be?
Am I missing something here? The only explanation that comes to mind is that the block was replaced in 53 (or there abouts) and was stamped with the original 49 number. Would this be what they would have done if they replaced the block? I know if the torque tube was replaced with a new one, this would (or should have) been the case, to restamp the tractor number, but did they do this with the blocks too?
Any other ideas?
PS-On my 48 C everything matches up, the tractor and engine No both say it's a 48, and the engine block casting ends with 20 which also suggests a 48.

no good ideas Jacob. The casting number tends to work 90% of the time, but i have heard others say the same thing, that every now and then, things dont line up.
