I freed up the stickey brake pedals and bled the brakes. However, I don't have left brakes. pedal has almost no free travel and is rock hard. The brake is not dragging. There is little free travel on the right brake too, but it works. It appears to be something in the disk unit in the rear end. Manual doesn't show much of whatever is in the rear housing. Is there some kind of wheel cylinder? Doesn't appear to be an inspection port, so it must mean removing the rear tire/wheel and taking the axle assembly apart? Helper was on the brake pedal when I bled them....... no air, but I don't know what the pedal felt like. The brake line is quite long, is there a chance there is still air and would air cause this? I sure don't want to tear into the rear end!
Parking brake works..... locks both rear wheels. Bill

I you don't mind, how did you free up the sticky pedal? As soon as it cools off some I have to fix that on mine.

First question you are using hydrolics fluid not brake fluid 2nd. When you bleed the brake does the pedel go down as you bleed. No the problem is in master cylinder yes problem in side with piston hope that helps with you saying the pedals extremely hard I'd say piston is froze

You can wash the dirt off the body but you can’t wash the farmer out of the heart and soul

I am using hyd fluid, that's what it specifies. Pedal went down and that is why I supected it was in the rear end. Any way to fix without tearing it down?

The pedals can be removed and greased easily. The clutch pedal should be greased too considering these are 30 year old tractors. Just look under the dash by removing the black steel plate in front of the gear shift. Edited by Ron(AB) - 17 Aug 2017 at 12:09am |

If pedal goes down when you bled it, I would say brake disc are broke or splines are striped. MACK

What is the procedure to get in there to look at and fix? How much of a job? What would a shop charge?
