Took out all shims in compensator for piston pump and the brakes still work, how much pressure required for brakes to keep working???? |

brakes will work in manual mode with engine off....somewhat

I might think about removing the piston pump entirely and installing a 250 psi regulator on the return side of the orbitrol and sending that 250 psi pressure to the brake valve so there was still "power" brakes and no piston pump at all.

Yes.... very interesting, something to consider. On a hard starting stock 7040, I took out all the shims and it did noticeably start easier. |

At Louisville many years ago there was a 7030 power train that had an electrical motor sticking out of the hole where the gerotor pump was that was powered a pump doing exactly what the good Dr. suggested above except it eliminated all power train hp loss due to powering a hyd pump. Unit had a Crower clutch..
