I seen this on ebay and thought it looked like an excellent tractor hauler for someone, I can't justify it because my tractors stay home. The thing about it I don't think I would like is the motor.

Looks like a good price but as you say the engine is not the greatest. Those Detroits were real screamers. They were ok for short runs but not so good for long hauls and you better have hearing protection. Dean/MN

That's not a Detroit Diesel.That's a 4 cycle GM diesel (8.2? Not a screamer but maybe not much of a motor either.

I would not be afraid of an 8.2, we have 2 of them here in town and they are a lot more trouble free than the DT internationals with electronic fuel control. For a long distance hauler a 2 speed would be nice. Cal in Ct.

Its still a Detroit, its just not a two-stroke like all the other ones of that era.
Those engines run forever they just dont make a ton of power. Firehall down the road had one with that engine on the tanker. Pulled it along ok but it took it a while to get up to speed. |

That ain't no tractor hauler, THIS is a tractor hauler! 350hp CAT, 10 speed, 2 bedroom, bath and a half, fridge, microwave, AC, air ride, cd player, DVD TV and lots of storage. 280 gallon fuel capacity approximate range 2500 miles.
