That was probably the best reason for someone to invent a haybine. I pull an Allis conditioner many times around the field when I was in my teens and the most dreaded thing to hear was the sound made when the rollers plugged up. This usually happened at a corner or where the dividing board didn't work right and you pulled a wade in all at once. You needed a sharp knife and had to lay on the stubble to clean it out. I would imagine mowing at the same time could only add problems. If everything worked as it should, that rig would have eliminated my job.

Just was thinking, maybe Armand needs to build an 80R and the connecting parts. And then have a WD with a PTO that worked. I'm sure he could do it.

I sent Armand detailed pictures last night. He has already built the conditioner. This hitch swings the conditioner wide on the corners so it may not plug too bad. I also spent some of my youth with a sharp knife cutting the grass from the rolls of a New Idea conditioner. It was always hot and stinky laying on the stubble.

We had an 80 S and conditioner. I always had a sharp knife and a big pipewrench to unplug the thing. It got a little messy when you had a ground hog or cat stuck in the rolls.

Richard, I never caught a cat or a ground hog. I bet it was messy. We used to do hay together as a community when I was a kid. 3 neighbors and my Dad all had shares in the baler and conditioner according to how much hay you put up. Two guys had mowers and did all the mowing and however owned the hay would hire one of us boys to use his tractor and the conditioner to crimp the hay. They would be done mowing by 10-11 and you would spend the next 2 hours out there alone with that noisy thing. At least the Allis one was quieter than the double steel roller ones.

A young guy I worked for a few times usually ran a New Idea roll conditioner behind the WD45 sickle mower. I don't remember the hitch looking like that, but it was long ago. Mostly I remember his sister looking quite fine in the seat when she mowed ahead for the next day.
