Seems the general consensus around here is Universal Tractor Fluid. I run ATF, but I've been mildly chastised for it, never had any problems.

My Dad bought a brand new D-17 IV and it had Dexron from the Factory. It continued to have Dexron for several years and was always dirty around the front support from that water like oil seeping thru every gasket and seal there was. Changed to Universal Hydraulic oil and that seepage all stopped. Either will work and when you already have hydraulic fluid, why not keep it simple ??
