Didn't Allis build a new factory just to make these in Terra Haute Indiana but never really got it up to full production?

Yup. I was at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino CA this summer.
They got a B-17 project in work. I was chatting with a volunteer guy there, I mentioned I like old tractors, have some Allis-Chalmers. Before you know it I am looking up at the turbocharger. He said spin this, it's 60 years old and smooth as silk. Allis knew how to build 'em. |

they also made belt driven superchargers, I cant remember which aircraft they were in. I think GE and Ford made similar ones for the same application.
A small company in Dodge city KS repurposed them for portable bin fans, so we see them occasionally, we only bid on them if they are allis though. :) |

Just as an example the Wright R-1820-97 on the B-17 developed 1200HP from 9 clyinders totaling 1823 Cubic Inches of displacement. Somehow Creston, I don't think the little SP100 would even turn the wheel!
