Did the 20 - 35 have more than one motor in its lifetime. I know of a 20-35 serial number 195585 that has an engine serial number of 45222. Is that an Allis engine or what. Thanks for all help.

I'm not sure what you are asking exactly. Your engine serial number of 45,222 would be about right for a 1929 20-35.
But a tractor serial number of 195,585 is way too big for a 20-35. So I'm confused by that, it must be a typo or misread? The engines did have changes over the years. But for the most part were the same except for updates through the years. When they changed to 25-40's things changed quite a bit again. But that tractor serial number is too big even for a 25-40. You'll have to be more clear on what you are trying to figure out, then we can help more.

SN is 19585 The owner says his engine is different than most 20-35, he says carburetor is on opposite side.

20-35 Special? They have more power. Not sure what's different about the engine though.

The carb. and manifold is on the right side of engine from the 18-30 to the end of the a. The governor for the 18-30 and 20-35 is on the left, but was changed to the right side for the 25-40 and a

Need pictures to see what we are talking about. I've seen some cobbled up 20-35's but never seen one yet with a non-Allis engine!

Upon looking at the 20-35 closer, it appears to have an engine from an "A" Is that possible, will an "A" engine bolt up in a 20-35 ??

Yes, with the correct adapter plate. A 25-40 is essentially a 20-35 rear end and transmission with an A motor bolted up to the front of it. Now that I think about it, the adapter plate is for the A and the motor bolts up direct with the 20-35 rear end and trans for the 25-40....no adapter plate necessary to have a 20-35 with an A motor.
