How are the foot brakes supposed to lock on a C. Neighbor has a 48 that has been cobbled up a bit and no visible locks?

If they are like a CA, the brake locks are on the levers where they go inside the axle housings. They just flip over and hold the levers up against the housing.

Never heard of someone taking locks off and leaving them off..wonder if they were catching or binding. The service book is of no help and I have no C reference to see the parts or where they go.

See that thing between the fender and the brake that is attacted to the break? That should be your break lock. Push breaks down and flip to engage. If it's not there, you don't have a brake lock.

That's it. Item #1 & item #5. We used to rough up the latches a little so it would hold better.
Good Luck!

I don t know I tried to find some when I needed them and could not find them and I tried to put some on that I made and the the brake rod was not deep enough for it so the owner said don t bother he would not use them anyway. The other one was kind of the same deal.I really never questioned it I just thought that maybe it was some option at that time
