 Topic: Anybody line gas tanks?

Looking for someone close to SEIA that can hot tank and line a D17 tank. Bosses boy has one and doesn't want to do it himself. Anyone know of someone close that does it?

Aaron, there is a kit that you can get from POR-15 that works real good if the inside is rusty and there are not any holes in the tank. I used it on a motorcycle gas tank and it worked real good. Tank was rusty from years of sitting outside. Takes about an hour to do the whole works.
Not real sure how much it costs to line a tank but this stuff costs about 30 bucks.

I used Kreem brand tank liner on my 3 wheeler tanks and that worked well. About the same price as POR-15.

I know there are kits around. I've done my own WD tank. He's looking for a professional dip and coat. I'd offer to do his, but mine didn't go as well as I'd like to have seen it and I don't want to mess up a D17 tank.

I have done two CA gas tanks with the "over the counter kits" and have had good luck. Follow the instructions and I think you will be happy with the results.

Aaron, Dennis Stork provided me with a tank that had been dipped/lined. He had the work done at a radiator shop. He's in Illinois (Sparta area). If that might work for you, send me a pm and I'll send you his contact info.

I use Red Kote, have for years and had very good results with it. I buy it by the gallon for about $50.00, you wind up with about less than a pint to do a 15 gallon tank. Costs about $5.00 to $6.00 per 15 gallon tank.

+1 on the Red Kote. Used it successfully on both motorcycle and tractor gas tanks.
Several eBay sellers carry it.

During my D12 resto, had the tank sandblasted and found many pin holes (it did not leak previously). Took it to the radiator shop and had it acidized and internally coated successfully; many of the remaining radiator shops have had to learn to work with the newer (plastic framed) radiators and can perform some pretty neat stuff.

I used KREEM on my drag cars. Methanol likes to eat aluminum, so I coated the fuel cells I had, and been fine ever since. It is even alcohol resistant. I bought it from a motorcycle shop.
