wc starting problems

my wc wont start, it will backfire thru the exaust and also sputter thru the carburter
it last run last fall,but it needed almost full choke. I have cleaned the carb with gunk
replaced the needle and seat and gaskets,had the mag off and clean points
it has run twice for about 10 seconds then dies. if hit starter 3-4 revs gas will pour out the carb
please help

Sputtering through the carb is an indication of a stuck valve to me.

Did compression test, #1=125 psi 23&4 150 ps so believe valves oki

Did you get the mag put back on exactly like it was? Could be a little out of time.

One of two things. Either you still have a stuck valve, or the Mag timing is off a tick.

mag timing, carb is trying to flood (check AND clean your plugs), Fuel....
If you are using an ethanol based fuel, get rid of it. I only use Non-Ethanol in my tractors as the ethanol is Hydroscopic (google it) and will add moisture to your tank which turns into water.

Funny my WC sat all winter with E10 in it and fired off on the 4th pull of the hand crank. Did the same thing the last several winters. Check the sediment bowl. If no water there, that's not the problem.

Problem solved
the plug wires go into the mag clockwise don't know why i put them in counter clockwise
no wonder it it would blow out both ends
