I heard they are starting to reconsider the color and name change. So far they are talking that if customers want an orange tractor they may consider charging an extra fee to be decaled AGCO and be orange. Not good enough for my thinking as the dealer would still have to be Massey or Challenger and there should be an extra fee. It's a start and we need to hit them again with more email and phone calls. I have the numbers at home going directly to AGCO reps. I'll try to post them next Tuesday. My local dealer has said this is what is happening and that at the dealer meeting they all gave the AGCO people real h-e-double toothpick. We neded to support the dealers efforts now.

Forgot, they also got it from AGCO that the R Series Gleaners outsell the MF combines 6 to 1 and are 11 to 1 against the Challenger combines. That doesn't include the A series Gleaners. There is more I'm forgetting but will post as or if I remember what it all is. And that the Gleaners were gaining market share against Deere and Case but I didn't get any figures on that.

I do hope they are giving it some thought. Obviously, they didn't give it enough the first time around. The ideal result would be to not change anything with the dealer relationships, other than to allow the orange dealers the same full equipment line that they are offering the Massey and Challenger dealers. For todays agriculture, they have to be realistic and offer tractors larger than 275 PTO hp. 275 is impressive, no doubt about it, but equipment is growing by leaps and bounds (whether we like it or not), and even planters loaded with no till attachments and fertilizer is going to be plenty for a fwa tractor.
Thanks for brightening my day, Lonn. I hope this is the real deal!

I agree Lonn, you going to go to a Challenger or MF dealer for orange? I don't know if that'd work. They should keep the AGCO brand and make that the only version. Then each dealer can sell you an AGCO tractor with the MF, Challenger, Oliver, MM branding and coloring on it. They did it with Hesston they used to be just Hesston then they went to AGCO/Hesston and MF/Hesston then it was just AGCO and maybe MF. Do the same with MF tractors. Call them AGCO/MF tractors. Everyone who knows anything about the MF deal knows AGCO bought MF and there's about as much MF in a tractor now as there is Allis Chalmers. That solution solves all of their supposed issues with why they dropped AGCO in the first place. Good night, they do this with Valtra already why is it rocket science to them now?
New Holland charges about $375 to get a yellow version of their blue tractor. That would be acceptable. Are you going to be able to get a MF utility tractor painted AGCO orange? I don't know why they didn't do that in the first place instead of bringing in the GT's though the GT's probably were a better tractor albeit more expensive. |
