Hope you enjoy your new "job" for a long time to come Mark. Still doesn't seem like there's enough time in a day, even when you are retired. Congrats.....

Congratulations, Mark. Now you will wonder how you found time to work a regular job. I have more to do now than when I was employed, but then I was one of those "government workers."

I admit, I prefer retirement over working. Ya still have a lot to work on, but you get to choose what and when. When I retired a while back, some of my working friends contemplating retirement asked if there was an adjustment period. There sure is, lasts about 5 minutes that first morning, but you can get through that.

I agree with Jim on adjustment period. However, I don't think mine lasted quite that long. Congratulations andbe prepared to get busier than you have been for a long while.

Mark, It won't take too long before you wondered how you found time to work.
Enjoy. I've been at it for 13 years and still look forward to every day.
Good Luck!

Congratulations Mark. My dad retired from his small business the year I graduated high school, 1985 at age 50. When they aren't in Florida he still shows up at my place about 3 days a week to play around in the shop, mow my lawn, etc. I hope you enjoy it as much as my parents have.

Congrats Mark! I may never know what retirement is. At the rate i'm going, there won't be any SS to help out. I would have to be 70 to get it if there was any, and something always seems to eat up that savings nest egg as soon as it starts looking like it might amount to something.
Dad retired 4 years ago. He seems to be thoroughly enjoying himself, but stays busier than he ever was. Like already said here, he gets to choose what he does now and when. Enjoy yourself!

It's important to wind down gradually.........Don't just stop working!.........something may snap! Sooooooooooooo, I got lots of projects here to help you wind down gradually, if you run out of stuff to do (I doubt you will, but just wanted to offer)! ENJOY!

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but this retirement thing isn't all it's hyped up to be.
1. you don't have any vacation
2. you don't have any sick leave
3. the honey-do's still come
4. nobody wants to hear your whining-now I will get back to running the heavy equipment around the home-i.e. dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, washer, dryer, push mower(I always did run the riding mower)

Still keep thinking about it then the electric or heat bill comes and have to put it off for a while longer.
After 39 years with last place and then them closing dowen well forced retirement. Now been driving going on 4th year after the college thing and working for school .
Here i have those 12 cycles just waiting for me to get busy on and do some fixing and riding , then the other projects also waiting ... ONE OF THESE DAYS ?
