190 rear end housings

   How many different rear end housing variations for the 190 are out there?   Is it just two for the two pinnion rear and four pinnion?  Just wanted to check with someone who has more knowledge in this than I do.  Thanks.

	A four pinion differential fits in ANY 190 rearend as long as it has the XT ring and pinion. I'd say there were four rearend castings from 1964 to 1971. The original One-Ninety prior to sn 3000??? had a smaller mainshaft brg bore....then from there to 9000 had the narrow bull gear cavity but bigger mainshaft brg bore........9001 to ??? had a wider bull gear cavity.....23001 and up?? had the widest bull gears. Check a parts book on the sn breaks.

	DrAllis the AGCO parts lookup doesn't have any serial number breaks, they show two different housings on the breakdown, one without a part number and it superseedes to the housing below and it says to order a slug of part numbers also when ordering the new housing. My parts book from 1965 shows two different part numbers like you said prior to Serial number 2274 and effective there also. My 190 is serial number 5412 and the casting number on the housing is AM4982-11, I looked at serveral 190's today serial numbers 10,000's - 24,039 and these tractors all had a casting number of AM4982-14 and a very late XT serial number that one had a casting number of 255161-01-WA, so I think you were right on with the guess of four different housings. I guess my question now is can I use a AM4982-14 housing in place of a AM4982-11 housing? Will my light rear end axle's go on this housing?

	Your small diameter (2 3/4")axles and tubes/sleeves should bolt right on. I did one on a puller (series III) a couple years ago with no problems.
