Well had my first hook today with the CA and I didn't even get off the line as the hand clutch was slipping.

I searched but heck if I can find the older threads on what to do.

If rebuilt will it hold (Stock HP, up to 3500 lb)?

Or replace it with a solid shaft?

The hand clutch should handle anything a stock engine can muster but if pulling is the main use of your CA, you might wanna look for an axle from the left side of a donor.

I found a shaft, I guess that looks to be the easiest solution for my needs. Don't have a use for the hand clutch right now

You will need a brake drum too. The old brake drum is part of the clutch. Pretty easy to swap the clutched axle out for a solid one in.

If re-done proper it will hold just fine, leave it stock, unless you gotta 160 under the tine

I thought that if you removed the clutch portion from the brake drum, you could still retain that drum with a longer axle?
