 Topic: 7000, 8000 hydraulic filters

OK with all of this talk about to support or not support AGCO brings me to question buying AGCO filters. We are going to change the hydraulic oil and filters on our 8050 and 8030, they take the same filters as do some of the 7000 series. My question is does anyone know if NAPA or any other brand offers these. If so what are the numbers for the two lower cartridge filters. As I recall they are not the same. Thanks rieg swoh

Started using carquest filters last year i am fairly certain they are the same manufacture as napa gold . Hyd is 85256 and Diff is 85257. If you order by Fri they are haveing their filter sale and you could save between 50%-75%.

I "think" the wix #s are 51256 and 51257 ..

I've got nos AC filters for 7/8000 series tractors if interested 717-465-4976. As far as other replacement filters we use all fleetgaurd filters shipped straight from Cummins Power Systems we just have the nos filters I mentioned left over from a dealer buy out a few years ago

as I understand it there are only 3 premiere builders of filters, and they make all the quality filters for OEM equipment, Baldwin, Donaldson, and Fleet gaurd. Have used Baldwins for years I have a local distributer I buy from but you can order them right from Shoup and have them delivered to your door the next day usually. The other "brands" I would shy away from they say they meet OEM specs, but by that they mean size and threads etc not the inner workings of a filter. Baldwins, Donaldson and Fleet gaurds meet or exceed the specs internally, and if you see the cut away of filters, Ive yet to see where the Baldwin didnt have the best materials, pleets per inch etc compared to the aftermarket brands. NAPA etc are proabaly built by one of those 3 manfacuterers listed, as are JD, CNH. Mack, Agco etc.

I got 2 engine oil filters the other day and first priced them at oreillys but they were going to have to order them. Since I needed them pretty quit I had someone pick them up at agco for me and turned out they were nearly 20 dollars cheaper there, plus they even said allis chalmers on them.

Hyd. filters for 7000 series and 8000 are the same filter, except the orings are different. MACK

If you begin to have hydraulic issues after installing something other than an AGCO set of hydraulic filters, remember I wrote this. I have seen trouble with aftermarket filters that caused cavitation of the steering pump and all it took to repair was the correct AGCO filter.

Thanks for all the help guys I ordered them yesterday from NAPA we have used their filters for years but didn’t have the numbers for the hydraulic filters. The last time I changed these I did use AGCO filters, the hydraulic light on the 30 would come on and stay on for an hour when it was below freezing. I thought I had done something wrong so I took them out and rechecked them they were installed correctly. The light on the 50 never came on. I have noticed on the 30 if I have the three point lever all the way up the pump makes a constant busing sound back if off a little and it quiets down has anyone else experienced this. Id agree with Dr Allis, NAPA filters typically dont have the inner workings that OEM do.

Your 3 pt hitch hyd linkage is out of adjustment thats why its making that sound if you look in your owners manual it tells you how to corretcly adjust the linkage, if you do not have it adjusted right it will eventually blow the packings out of your 3 pt and it will not stay up. As I stated above the OEM filters are built by one of the big 3 manufacturers, no OEM in the ag business has a filter manufacturing facility, not Deere, not CNH, and specially not Agco, I would agree that the OEM filter should be what the OEM orders, however in Agcos case what specs are they using? The old Alllis Chalmers specs, there idea of specs for that application, or are they farming it out to the cheapist manufacturing facility to meet there cost for the "heritage" line. It use to be that say in mufflers Agco was providing a Nelson built or Donalson built muffler, now its a stanely, which meets OEM "specs" but yet doesnt do the OEM job.

The Carquest filters are made by WIX which are fine, but they do not supply the correct o-ring for the 8000 series, the ones they give you are for the 7000 series.

Is this why my 3 point arms go down after 20 minutes shut off?

One thing that happens is the interchange system is far from perfect. For example filter A and filter B are close in external measurments and share the same thread. Filter A may work for filter B meaning do the job or better BUT the reverse is not true B will screw on an A applcation but will NOT do the job filtering or flow wise. In other words If one crosses from one number to another and crosses that one to another about the only thing you are assured of is that it will screw on the threads and you can get into trouble especialy with hydraulics. I just recently spent some time looking for replacement filters for our D-19 gas after being ripped at AGCO the first time and a person can cross the filters from the acgo number to a wix and from wix to Purolator and youll get a different filter number than when you cross the AGCO number directly to Purolator. Bottom line is as some have said, no OEM makes their own filters and the people who make them also sell MOST of them aftermarket but not allways.
I bought my D-19 engine oil filter at NAPA. 51515 which is a 1515. Got it home and compared to AGCO and noticed on the bottom of the AGCO a stamped number 61515, coincidence? I doubt it. Its a Wix, I'll take it to the bank. Saved $8.

I have to say on the 8000 model tractor the hydraulic filter which is open type of filter (no canister) and i compared agco filter to carquest and could count no more pleats on the agco filter than the carquest filter and the same went for the Diff. filter. As far as the o rings go i have had no problems with them .
