 Topic: towing a CA??

Going to be bringing my CA home this weekend, weather permitting. the question I have is where it he best place to hook on to the front of a CA to pull it a short distance?
Can't really get the trailer to it so I need to get it to the trailer. Won't have to pull it more than about 200 yards or so. Tires are all up and OK

On a narrow front I always loop the chain around the pedistal between the front tires. On a wide front I just flop the chain over the axle close to the tractor.

Another option is to pull backwards using drawbar,but ONLY if you have a helper/driver for the CA.

Just remember there are only about 4 bolts that attach the engine to the torque tube. When I got my CA, the ears on the block had been broken off and someone used some large pieces of steel to try to clamp it back together. If it were stuck, I would chain up to the snap coupler area where it's got some meat to work with.

Thanks for the input. The tractor isn't stuck, just in a spot that would be trickey to get a trailer back to.

Chances are pretty good the corners of the CA block broke when the front mount cultivators hit a stump, or root, or rock

I've been sorting and cleaning it for over a year now and still find "treasures" hidden away. Mostley junk but a few pearls in amongst the swine. My uncle never threw anything away that might have a use some day, somewhere, somehow.
In the barn with the CA I bought is the Roto-bailer, it was usable when it was stored some thirty years ago. '37 WC, kind of rough but the engine turns. '48 WD, starter was off of it but he was hand cranking it when he needed to use it. 3 bottom pin coupler plow, looks to be in pretty good shape and ready to use. home made dirt scoop, massive drag type brush beater, 2 dozen or so steel wheels of assorted styles and sizes...
We hope to have a sale in early April. I'll post it here for those that might be close enough to be interested.

Larry, Congratulations on your CA. It is a "neat" tractor and a lot more powerful then it looks. Good Plowing unit.
Listen closely to what is said above. They have the right answers.

Don't much care for most pickers, my grandpa got cleaned out by one about 20 years ago and screwed him pretty hard.

Larry, I have a similar story. Years ago - 40 or more - someone stopped at our home and talked my grandmother out of a chest of molding planes. These planes were the typical set from the 1800's - matched sets of left- and right-hand planes. She got a pittance for the chest containing dozens of planes, and whoever stopped by that day got a steal from an elderly woman who simply didn't know what she had in the attic. How those guys live with themselves I do not know.
