hey guys going pulling for the first time next weekend and will run the farm stock class, 10 percent over rpm 2.5 mph limit no cut tires things like that, any particular tractor i should look out for, ones that will give a wd a run for its money or flat out embaress it? here is the list of pullers from last year and there will more than likely be no more (well i guess one and thats me) and no less tractors there, meaning we expect everyone to show up that did last year http://www.ottercreekpullers.com/Ashton_Tractor_Pull.html, any of them that catch your eye? if there are so few people running the open class again we may run open just for a guarnteed trophy

The Coop E3 can be a tough tractor. The Farmall H also if the motor has been built up.
But it looks like your main competition will be other AC tractors. |

3500, 4000, 4500 and depending on if we spin out or power out on 4500 maybe 5000. basically we will just keep going up in weight classes until we run out of power. it has been rainy here alot so there may not be much traction, allowing us to run higher weight class

i may not have to worry about the farmalls very much, according to tractor data the farmal has a 2.6 mph first gear, meaning they go too fast so they have to throttle down a bit. the guys are very strict about speed, especially since not many are a fan of farmall

The more you throttle back the better. As the tractor lugs down and slips the tires you can add more throttle and keep your speed up. I run a 4.2mph gear in the 3mph class and had the best results vs the 3.5mph gear. Yeah the horn gets me once or twice a year but its worth it.

so throttling back is better? if you could explain that some more i would appreciate it, it just seems a little counter productive to me ( never done it before though, 1st time june22) i figured it was wide open and roar down the track

If you run a higher speed gear you just can't give it full throttle till your down the track were your will slippage will prevent you from speeding hopefully. But you need a little extra HP to run that faster gear and to be able to idle.

Okay but this would give the farm all a slight advantage given the drivers ability and if he or she has enough engine with there faster gear

Not sure if hes got it yet...This is how i pull as well. I run first gear in a 240ci motor and i run stock farm and we have a 3.5mph limit with a digital speed board. i also run 13.6x36 tires on one WC and 15.5x38 on the other. Now i am only about half or a little better throttle comming down the track and i watch my speed and keep bumping the throttle a little more to keep it as close to 3.5 as i can, more momentum and speed will get you farther and one you start slipping your right on the throttle were you need to be.
So ....it works good for use but its not always the same for everyone else. Hope it all works out for you....Sorry if you did understand and i am just saying again for no reason.
