Is their a way to tap in and put 2 way remotes that would act seperately from the lift arms and traction booster on a D-17D series 1 other than a front mount pump and resevoir.

There has been some talk about this, I know I have seen this discussed before on the forum as I am interested as well for my series I.
If I remember right, you would tap off the transport valve and return to the plug on the LH side of the sump. You would still need to operate the system from the main hyd lever on the steering column and your valve would need to isolate the lift arms so you wouldn't be operating everything at once. Can remember if someone had posted a schematic, but it seems like I saw one somewhere....maybe we will get some more input from someone that has actually done it.

If you were closer, I'd say come look at my 17. Somebody added a pair of remote valves to it. One hose to the valves is connected to the transport valve like a remote cylinder. Then there is a plug on the side of the transport valve that has a second hose connected. There are 2 steel lines coming up to the transport valve on my tractor. I'm not sure how it works since I have no hydraulic equipment.

I'm like Brian, no hyd. equipment so not real sure how it works. On mine, I leave the lift control on the dash activated and use one of the spools pictured, for the lift. The other spool is for the remotes. The hoses you see down below are just sleeves to keep the pipes from wearing on one another. |

O.K. Guys I can't sleep so I'll try to explain how mine works, I did this YEARS ago. I bought a open center high pressure valve at TSC. It had its own lever, plugged supply line into my remote, dump line into plug on LH side like Creek says & dual valves out the back for 2 way cylinder. It was slow but worked well, I had to unplug remote to use rams and of course keep hydraulic lever up while using 2 way. I used it on the haybine & cornpicker but much too slow to move the thrower on the baler, its still on there & working much better since Fred improved it by adding a valve somehow so we Don't have to unplug the remote to use the rams. I am no mechanic, its amazing I got the O.C. valve to work even after someone showed me, I was younger then I guess. Thats why I am nice to Fred now...Harvey

What keeps the rams from lifting when you are running the remotes, or am I missing something. Isn't the factory remote just tapped into the lift arm pressure line like on a wd. wouldn't the lift arms just come up when you run the remote valve and their is pressure built up.

Denis, you are correct, the arms do raise, it works like that just slower. The valve Fred put on eliminates the rams, one way for rams other for remote. HTH...Harvey

Now that I think about it does the ram for the lift get it hydraulic pressure from the return from the transport valve. I probably am not lucky enough for that to be true if it is how it works though you could just run a second spool valve that suppiled pressure back to it and control your lift that way. Then you could maintain the use of your traction booster on the lift and on you remotes by locking the spool that controls either your lift arms or your remote to lift and using the factory control lever on the dash to control it. Now I am really hoping that is how it works. If it does I will be all set. Sorry If I rambled on but I thought maybe I figured something out,

Okay I think this is how it works correct me if I am Wrong.
If I have figured right in theory you could lock either valve in the lift position and use the factory controls and the traction booster would work with the remote and the lift arms by controling them with the dash controls because the dash controls send pressure to the spool valve. I know I was wrong in my thinking on the last post but I think I am right now tell me what you think.

Denis, you've got it right as far as what you're seeing in the pic. As mentioned, I've never used the setup. I think you've got a better understanding of it than I do, but I suspect it would be slow as Harvey mentioned, with the factory low volume pump ?

There was a remote valve option for the early D17 tractors, had a take on the r/h floorboard, pump was in the belt pulley(wasnt live like series IV). I have D17 slaes literature that shows this option but have never seen one, are there any left?

Someone had a pic on the forum a few weeks back of an industrial D17 with the early remote and tank I think. Couldn't see it real well, there was a tank and it looked like the pump was on the belt pulley location - I wonder if it used the regular belt pulley drive thingy?
Ray - Is it a factory setup you have? I'd really like to take it off yer hands but my tractor budget is drained right now if you still have it in a coupla months post again. I'm still trying to find cylinders to convert my trip bucket to a two way.

Wouldnt it be hard on the pump to leave it up in the pump position all the time to use the two way??? Our D-17 has a two way spool mounted to the right of the seat that plugs into the transport valve. I do not use it though because you have to leave the pump pumping all the time with leaver in up position. |
