I need assistance identifying a hd6g I just purchased. There is a plaquard on the dash that has hd6g-16378, and on the right rear of the machine stamped hd6g 1637 any help idemtifying this machine would be appreciated, also i have a hd6g 1956 model are the parts interchangable??

I suspect you dig a little harder at the rear and that '8' will come up, too close a number on both to not be the same.

That "8" could be a worn off "G" also....... If it has a 344 engine its likely a 1637 s/n, if it has a 6000 engine its likely the higher s/n.....

The HD6G later serie the head motor is different and should have a crossbar betwen the 2 finder and the hydrlic hose are attache on and for changing the stering cluch you need to drain the hydrolic tank and removed the cylinder hoses and crossbar.
